Coles donates two semi-trailers of groceries to help Shepparton

Coles online capacity ramped up to shorten wait times for home delivery

27 August 2021

Coles has sent two semi-trailers full of groceries from Melbourne to Shepparton, donating 46 pallets of chilled and ambient products including staples such as butter, milk, eggs, meat, fruit, vegetables and grocery essentials.

The groceries have been delivered to Shepparton FoodShare and will help provide urgent support for vulnerable members of the community who are in isolation and unable to leave their homes.

Shepparton FoodShare Operations Coordinator Grace Grieve said the Coles’ delivery is welcome relief.

“We are pumping out about 450 food parcels a day for the community and delivering them directly to the front doors of people who are in isolation,” she said.

“This will make a huge difference because it gives us the ability to continue to provide food to people and know that they are not going to go hungry. People are so worried about food and this is something that they now won’t have to worry about. We are so grateful to Coles for this incredible donation.”

In addition to the food donations, Coles has also increased its capacity to deliver online orders to homes in Shepparton by 250 per cent.

Coles Regional Manager Stuart Porter said the team is doing everything it can to support the community at a time when many are in isolation.

“We know Shepparton residents are experiencing unprecedented times as a result of COVID-19 so we wanted to provide urgent support,” he said.

“Two truckloads of essential food donations have come straight from our distribution centres in Melbourne to Shepparton FoodShare to distribute to vulnerable people in isolation.”

“We’ve also increased our home delivery capacity by 250 per cent in Shepparton to significantly reduce wait times for residents in isolation who want to place orders with Coles online.”
