Coles will create more than 40 new jobs at Salisbury on Saturday, 5 August when it opens its bigger and better supermarket inside Parabanks Shopping Centre.

Previously located outside the shopping centre, Coles’ new and enhanced supermarket will provide shoppers with a fresh market-style experience including an in-store bakery, a continental delicatessen offering a variety of local and international cheeses, a qualified butcher and a ‘Scoop and Weigh’ station with a large range of grains, nuts and seeds.

More than 40 new recruits will join 97 team members who are transferring from the existing store, bringing the total number of team members to nearly 140.

Adding to the convenience of the new supermarket, Coles will also feature Click & Collect at Parabanks, enabling customers to order their groceries online and have them delivered to their car boot for free at the shopping centre carpark.

State Operations Manager Sophie Wong said the new store will offer customers greater product choice and an improved market-style shopping experience.

“A new supermarket also means new job opportunities for the local community, and we’re pleased to welcome more than 40 new team members to the supermarket at Parabanks Shopping Centre,” she said.

Store Manager Andrew Mallet has worked at Coles for 25 years and said the team is excited to open the new store and enhance customers’ shopping experience.

“It’s great to offer our customers the latest store features at a bigger and better supermarket. I think customers will especially love the new in-store bakery,” he said.

“The team is really passionate about the community. We have been involved with ‘Bears for Hope’ for a while, which provides support packages for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. We are also looking forward to engaging the community further through our Helping Hands program involving the Salisbury Scouts Group and Fauna Rescue SA.”

Late last month the Coles team held a community event at the local scout hall, where Fauna Rescue SA ran a wildlife workshop for the local community to show how they care and look after rescued animals. The store team donated $4,000 in equipment to the Scouts group, and two incubators to Fauna Rescue to assist with the caring of injured and sick animals.

To celebrate the new store opening, Coles will host a free Family Fun Day on Saturday, 5 August at Parabanks Shopping Centre which will feature face painting, balloon modellers, gift card giveaways and a community BBQ at the John Street entrance supporting the Salisbury Scouts.
