Jason Leow

What attracted you to Coles Group Limited?

I was first attracted to Coles Group Limited because they could offer me a wide range of career prospects in Finance, Accounting and Strategic Management. I wanted to work somewhere that believed in a hands-on approach and provided stability alongside professional training.

How did you hear about the Graduate Program?

Via word of mouth. I play and teach guitar and one of my students worked in Coles Group Limited IT. He told me about the website and suggested that I apply.

What's the best part about the Graduate Program?

Offering diversity and demanding accelerated learning, the Graduate Program ensures that you're rotated through different business areas and exposed to the way that different departments function. I've already worked in Rebates and Allowances, Revenue Collections, General Ledger, Management Accounting, Accounting Services, Planning and Analysis, Finance and IT.

Have you had the chance to combine any external study with Coles Group Limited training?

I've actually been able to participate in comprehensive, professional training that's combined my external CPA studies with an internal CPA mentor Program and a Diploma in Business through the Coles Group Limited Institute. By the end of the Graduate Program I will have nearly achieved my CPA qualifications.

What do you most like about working for Coles Group Limited?

As you can imagine, Coles Group Limited is a great place to work for so many reasons. I enjoy the freedom to innovate and create new solutions through my daily work, and I enjoy my work/life balance through flexible hours and convenient work locations. There are also good shopping and entertainment benefits available to Coles Group Limited employees.

What attracted you to Coles Group Limited?

The size and the diversity of the business really caught my attention. I wanted the opportunity to be able to move higher and across the business, and was really interested in doing work that can be directly related to the consumer.

How did you find out about the Coles Group Limited Graduate Program?

I discovered the Graduate Program through the Coles Group Limited website. The more I read, the more I was interested. I liked the idea of rotating through different areas of the business and so far I've worked with the Logistics Accounting Team and the Group Internal Audit team.

Have you had much access to training?

Yes, and it's been fantastic. I've already undertaken courses that have improved my time management, professional development and interpersonal skills. There's also been formal training in SAP, audit software and corporate governance training for key legislation that may affect the business.

What makes Coles Group Limited a great place to work?

It may sound corny, but it's definitely the people. Their commitment to developing staff via continual learning and training in both 'soft' and 'hard' skills is truly inspiring. Coles Group Limited also encourages a work/life balance and that's a real plus.

What has been the most challenging aspect of your role?

It's been tough to have to adapt quickly to new people, work and environments. While the constant change makes work interesting, it can also be difficult to leave a team you've become a part of.
